Bali Pops

In this 2-part hands on class you will learn to use Bali Pops to create a colorful contemporary lap quilt.

Beginning Quilting

In this five part class, you will learn the tricks of rotary cutting, piecing, and ironing to make your quilt come together more easily. You will learn at least five different patterns as you create a sampler quilt that you will be proud of.

Celtic Knot

Just in time for St. Patrick’s Day! Ancient designs like Celtic Knots make bold visual statements in today’s world. In this class you will learn how to make bias strips and secure the strips to background fabrics with ‘invisible’ hand applique stitching, to create your own stunning Celtic Knot panel. This panel can then be used in a quilt, made into a pillow top or used as a wall hanging.

Crazy Quilting

Crazy Quilting involves blocks made of many different fabrics and no particular pattern which are then embroidered by hand and/or machine, and embellished with ribbons, lace, beads, buttons and miscellaneous do-dads.  It is a great way to use up those beautiful pieces you have tucked away somewhere.  We will also cover tea dying, fabric painting and the many ways to transfer images. In this class you will create a 12” finished block suitable for display, the top of a pillow or a small wall hanging and you will definitely have the skills to go on and create as many blocks as you like.

Luminous Landscapes

Latin Dancing: Salsa Table Runner

Nine Patch Pizzazz

Fun, fast and finished in a day, this is called the “Potato Chip” quilt because you can’t make just one! If you have some large-scale fabric that you couldn’t resist buying, but have no idea how to use, then this is the class for you. Anyone can make these quilts – they are very beginner friendly but they are fun for the experienced quilter too. You will get hooked on this technique!

Machine Embroidery Applique

Photo Transfer

Strips N’ Curves

Proper Pattern Fitting Classes

Pattern Fitting for everything but pants!

Teacher: Mellany Lieuwen

Dates:  April 11, 18, 25 and May 2  10 – 4pm

Mellany Lieuwen, former National Education and Fashion representative for the McCall Pattern Company, and author of Size it Up/Down and Proper Pattern Fitting is back!  You will create a basic fitting muslin and your own permanent measurement chart to use for adjusting future patterns so you will never need to make another muslin pattern again unless there is a weight change of 10 pounds or more. You will learn about fabric selection, finding the correct styles for your figure and designer detail sewing techniques.

 After creation of the basic muslin, a classic blouse/casual jacket pattern will be adjusted in class. The blouse pattern can be created in different fabrics with different details and can also be made as a lightweight jacket.  Workshop includes Basic Fitting pattern & Classic Blouse pattern.
*Four classes ~ 10am to 4:30pm with ½ hour for lunch
* Be sure you can attend all, full day classes.  There are no make-up classes. You will  have loads of fun!!!

Proper Pant Fitting Workshop

After creation of the basic fitting pant muslin, students will bring a fashion pant pattern to class for adjusting and techniques will be learned for adjusting other pant styles. Workshop includes Basic Fitting Pant pattern.

Four classes – 10am to 4:30pm with 1/2 hour for lunch
Be sure that you can attend all four classes as there are no make-ups.

Seamstress Sanctuary

Thread Sketching on Sheer fabrics

This will be a class on creating calligraphy and other designs, by thread sketching onto sheer fabrics, using Sulky Solvy and free-motion stitching. It will be a one-hour demo class so no supplies are necessary.

Stitching Classes with Debbie

The Background Stitches Class will meet on the second Tuesday of every month beginning January 12 from 1-2pm. This is the perfect class for those who have difficulty choosing the right stitch for large background spaces. You will learn great new stitches and uses for some old stitch “standbys”.

Fee: $20.00 includes book, practice canvas, fibers and all sessions

The Colorful Stitches for Over-dyed and Variegated Threads Class is the perfect place to try out our wonderful fibers and learn new stitches that show off their beauty.  The class will meet on the fourth Thursday of the month beginning on January 26 from 1 – 2pm….the hour before the Needlemaniacs Support Group.

Fee: $20.00 includes book, practice canvas, fibers and all classes.
